Mapping Toponyms in Early Modern Plays with the Map of Early Modern London and Internet Shakespeare Editions Projects: A Case Study in Interoperability

Janelle Jenstad is Associate Professor of English at the University of Victoria. She directs The Map of Early Modern London (MoEML) and serves as Associate Coordinating Editor of the Internet Shakespeare Editions, for which she is editing The Merchant of Venice. With Jennifer Roberts-Smith, she co-edited Shakespeare’s Language in Digital Media (forthcoming from Taylor & Francis/ Routledge). Diane Jakacki is the Digital Scholarship Coordinator and Affiliated Faculty in Comparative Humanities at Bucknell University. Her research specialties include digital humanities methodologies as applied to early modern British literature and drama, and the ways in which pedagogy can be transformed by means of digital interventions. She is currently editing Henry VIII for the Internet Shakespeare Editions, and serves as the ISE Technical Editor; she is also editing The Shoemaker’s Holiday for Broadview Press. Articles and essays have appeared in Early Theatre, Medieval and Renaissance Drama, and Digital Scholarship in the Humanities, among others.
